Mohács 500 Memorial Weekend

On 29 August 1526, the Battle of Mohács changed the course of Hungarian history. Five hundred years later, on 29–30 August 2026, Sátorhely comes alive again with the sights and sounds of 16th-century Europe – historical re-enactors, a large-scale battle re-enactment, and two days of family-friendly activities. Entry is free.

★ Family-friendly event
The Historical Adventure Field offers all-day activities for children on both days – archery, craft workshops, and hands-on history for kids aged 6–12.

Please note: this is NOT the Mohács National Memorial Site. Most visitors navigate to the Memorial Site commonly known as the „Mohács battlefield” – the Mohács 500 memorial weekend, however, takes place at a separate, independent location, Sátorhely. Please check your route before setting off; see the exact route below under Getting There, or on the site map.

🛡️Safety information

We ask everyone to watch for posted signs and follow the instructions of the event staff.

  • The battle re-enactment is loud: cannon and musket fire are part of it – worth bearing in mind if you're bringing small children. Crossing the cordon is prohibited.
  • For fire-safety reasons, smoking is PROHIBITED anywhere on the event grounds. Smoking is only allowed at designated, marked smoking areas – these are closed during the battle re-enactment.
  • The venue is an open, dry grass field, where even a single discarded cigarette butt can start a fire. Open flames and lighting fires are prohibited anywhere on the grounds.
  • Drone use without permission is prohibited. Photo and video recordings are made at the event, which the organisers may use for communication purposes.
  • Persons who do not follow the rules, or whose behaviour or condition is inappropriate, may be removed from the event by security.
  • On-site information: [COMING SOON: phone number], information point at the main entrance.

Saturday only
Mohács 500 Wargame

Historical tabletop wargaming, where the Battle of Mohács is re-created with hand-painted miniature figures at 28 mm scale – at least 1,000 painted figures on a scale, historically accurate battlefield model. Visitors can try their hand at playing it themselves at the Historical Adventure Field.

Please note: this is a tabletop miniatures game, not the same as the large-scale live battle re-enactment performed by re-enactors on the Battlefield.
